On the recordings
Like Superior Custom and Vintage, Superior Vintage ADD-ON was recorded at 2KHz Studios, London using an EMI TG Desk. 2KHz?s TG is an ex-Abbey Road Mobile console (1964 design) with a 28 channel /16 track configuration, with Germanium Transistor Mic/Pre’s. During the Superior Custom & Vintage sessions, the studio management let it be known the EMI desk was to be replaced. We couldn?t let that pass without recording one more session in that room with that desk – It was the last chance. The resulting recordings make up Superior Vintage ADD-ON.
On the drums
Together with Custom & Vintage, this collection brings together many of the drums being used by the world’s top studio drummers. Even though most drummers endorse a single brand, widespread use of vintage and custom built instruments is common in the studio scene.
Ludwig Keystone
The Ludwig Drum Company had no idea what was about to hit them in the months following February 9th 1964, The Beatles U.S. television appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. The band were a sensation and almost overnight everyone wanted to own a set of Ludwig drums jus like Ringo’s.
Gretsch Round Badge Drum Set
At the same time Ringo Starr was playing Ludwig drums, Charlie Watts – his opposite number in The Rolling Stones – was playing Gretsch, another classic American brand. The ‘Round Badge’ era of Gretsch drums has been the choice of the most important jazz drummers in history and still is among contemporary players. The Superior Vintage ADD-ON also features Noonan, Slingerland and WFL snares and Steve Hubback Custom Cymbals.
Superior Vintage ADD-ON was engineered and produced by Grammy winning producer Peter Henderson and played by world renowned session drummer Chris Whitten.
The Studio
Superior Vintage Add-on was recorded at 2KHz Studios, London using an EMI TG Desk. 2KHz?s TG is an ex-Abbey Road Mobile console (1964 design) with a 28 channel /16 track configuration, with Germanium Transistor Mic Pre’s. The TG console was EMI’s very first transistor design and was used for many legendary recordings of the early seventies including The Beatles’ Abbey Road and Pink Floyds’ Dark Side of the Moon. It is considered one of the best sounding desks ever made. The drums were recorded with a selection of vintage microphones by Neumann (including valve U67?s on overheads and KM 56?s on toms), AKG and Sennheiser. As an added feature one of the room microphones (a Neumann U87) was processed with a Helios F760 compressor, the type found in early Helios 1970′s consoles as used by Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones and Apple Corps (The Beatles own studio).
Chris Whitten made a name for himself providing drums for the classic hits ‘What I Am’ by Edie Brikell and The New Bohemians and ‘The Whole Of The Moon’ by The Waterboys.
He cemented his place as one of the Worlds top drummers with two critically acclaimed projects in the early 90′s; Paul McCartney’s ‘Flowers In The Dirt’ album and subsequent record breaking World tour, and Dire Straits 18 month ‘On Every Street’ tour (1991-92). Chris has also recorded with such varied artists as Tom Jones, Johnny Cash, Julian Cope, World Party, The Pretenders and The The.
Peter Henderson started his career at Air Studios where he trained exclusively with Beatles’ recording engineer Geoff Emerick (Sgt Pepper, Abbey Road etc). Peter also worked on numerous sessions as an in-house engineer with the legendary George Martin. As a freelance producer/engineer he has worked in top studios all over the world and co-produced Supertramp?+s 20 million selling ‘Breakfast In America’, for which he won a Grammy (Best Engineered Album). Peter has also worked with Paul McCartney, Rush, Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, Tina Turner, Ringo Starr and The Tubes.

Check points – The Acronis Backup Explorer timeline shows Windows and software installation and update dates. Moving your mouse over a check point opens a balloon with information about the update or software. With check points you can check the changes to your system and recover the system to a specificbacked up state.
USB 3.0 support – Acronis True Image Home supports the new USB 3.0 standard. If your motherboard can work with USB 3.0 hard disk drives you can use the high data transfer speed offered by the new standard to make your backups run much faster.
Enhanced Acronis Nonstop Backup – Now you can use Acronis Nonstop Backup for protecting both partitions and individual files and folders. Automatic update notification – By default Acronis True Image Home will automatically inquire about the availability of a program update at every program start. When an update is available Acronis True Image Home will offer to download and install it. You can also check for availability of updates manually through the Help menu.
New Backup Explorer – Now you can use the Acronis Backup Explorers time line for exploring not only Acronis Nonstop Backup and Acronis Online Backup contents but contents of all other backups as well. Clicking My backups in the main window will show all your backups on the time line. In addition you can start recovery of disks and partitions right from the time line.

Kitpieces
We have combined the Pearl kit with a setup of some of the finest cymbals on the market from Sabian and Paiste. The full kit consists of a 22″ thumpy bass drum, a 14″ smacky snare drum with the thickest body we have ever seen and four tom toms from 10″ down to 16″. In addition to this you get three crashes, two Sabian and one Paiste, a 13″ Paiste hihat, the first 13″ hihat in Addictive Drums, and a nice dry Sabian Artisan 22″ Ride.

We work with high quality kits in professional recording studios with the best gear we can find. The Funk ADpak was recorded in Studios 301 in Stockholm, Sweden using Neumann, Telefunken, AKG and AEA microphones through Universal Audio preamps. The studio room in Studios 301 has excellent acoustics and considerable size which provides impressive natural room reverb. All samples are meticulously edited and tweaked during the editing phase, ensuring realism, variation and a natural response.
30+ Production Presets
Get instant funk action with the included production presets tweaked by a professional studio engineer. Go from tight to big, fat to thin, high to low in just a couple of clicks. The different preset categories are: Clean, Roomy, Tight, Natural w Comp and Effected. Either use the presets as they are or edit them the way you like. You are in control!
MIDI Grooves & Fills
The Funk ADpak comes with more than 400 MIDI grooves in contemporary style and a wide range of tempos and feels. All MIDI files in Funk were recorded live by a drummer for the ultimate live feel. The Master Funk Grooves are long MIDI files, up to 32 bars divided into Verse, Bridge, Chorus and Middle ready to be dragged and dropped into your arrangments.
The Funk Beats come in both straight and swing feel and have lots of variations like 16th hihat, 8th hihat, 4th hihat, ride variations, sidestick variations and more. Also included are a total of 60 funk fills in different tempos and four different lengths.
